We WON!

May 21

Being the TOP VOTE GETTER in the May 19th Primary is an incredible feeling. Earning the trust of the District 9 voters is even more of an honor.

First, a HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who donated, hosted fundraisers, campaign salons, knocked doors, made phone calls, talked to your neighbors, wrote social media posts and VOTED! Together we are going to build a better District 9 and a better Louisville.

I need to give a special thanks to my husband, Jacob and my kids, Edward and Idris, who have endured the campaign trail with grace, understanding and support the whole way. I would not be here without my family. I also need to thank my parents, Kathy and Paul, for being behind me every step of the way, and my brother and his family giving love from ATL. AND a special shoutout to my Godfather, Chaz, who is my number one canvassing partner and the ultimate yard sign king.

Bill Hollander and Tina Ward-Pugh are invaluable public servants and I am blessed, truly blessed, to have them in my corner, offering advice and support every step of the way. They have given me big shoes to fill. I am more confident than ever that I will be successful at serving the District and Louisville in the years ahead.

My aunts, uncles and cousins also deserve special recognition for their unyielding support during this race. And I'd be remiss if I did not thank the Fancy Farm and Beyond Campaign Contingency of both my in-laws and out-laws (you know who are).

This campaign is truly grassroots. Neighbors, colleagues, friends, JCPS parents, St. Frances of Rome, St. Leonard and Holy Trinity parishioners, Emerge Sisters, AHS alumna, former board colleagues, acquaintances and all the people who jumped in feet first; you made this happen.

These people looked at my campaign and said, "We believe in you. We got your back. Go get 'em." It's overwhelming and I am so deeply grateful and honored by your trust. It strengthens my conviction that now is the right time to stand up and make bold changes in Louisville. This primary win gives me energy to fight even harder in November.

So what comes next? I am going to take a little time off and enjoy a summer break. If you have a yard sign, please let it take a summer break too and store it for the Fall.

THANK YOU and I will be back very soon!
